Grades 1-5

Inspired most deeply through their feelings, Grade School students respond powerfully to what is beautiful in the world, this feeling for beauty is cultivated by the tools and approaches used in their main lesson work. Learn more about our Grades 1-5 and 6-8 curriculum.
Early education is an important time in a student’s life. From grades 1-3, students are learning the academic foundations they will use for the rest of their lives. Their natural love of learning is cultivated through a deepened learning experience that engages students’ heads, hands and hearts. Through this approach, students are put into the mindset of their lessons and develop an enthusiasm for discovery early on in life. In grades 4 and 5, students’ personalities and interests are emerging and they are ready to take on more academic challenges. Waldorf education nurtures learners from their introduction to grade school to their preparation for middle school and early adolescence.
At this development stage, intellectual reasoning capacities of children have not been developed. Their learning is most deeply inspired through their feelings. Lessons are developed to touch their hearts and enliven their minds through the use of imagination and beauty. Main lesson themes are based on rich stories, music, movement and art.
