Clover and Meadow Gardens (two mixed-age kindergarten classrooms)

Parents often feel a deep sense of calm when they walk into a Waldorf kindergarten. The rhythmic, repetitive and reverent nature of the kindergarten allows children to spend time together unselfconsciously and with their senses fully engaged.
*NEW* FULL DAY CORE KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM: Monday-Thursday
Each morning, children and parents are welcomed by the teachers in the forest yard. Soon after, we take a daily walk, visiting local natural spaces and parkland. Upon returning to school, the children have time to play freely in the yard. Cedar stumps and wooden boards become houses, trains, boats, and obstacle courses. Other children play chase or rake leaves and make nests in the piles. The sand pit provides many opportunities for construction and investigation. A simple snack is provided during this time.
We then transition inside for Story time. The children’s imaginations are nourished by an oral story told by the teacher. The ability to hear language sounds and to create inner pictures is an important foundational literacy skill that is nurtured in the Waldorf Kindergarten. The children take in the story and language deeply. Once the children have heard the story repeated, they experience it as a puppet play or by helping to ‘pretend’ the tale.

A healthy, homemade lunch comes next. The table is set and the children wash their hands in preparation. They sit in their seats, and sing a song of thanks for their food. “Earth who gave to us this food, sun who made it ripe and good...”
Our lunches include delicious and nutritious foods using whole grains, vegetables, legumes and fruit. Children have the opportunity to help prepare meals by chopping vegetables for soup or kneading bread dough.
Lunch, as well as both morning and afternoon snacks, are provided by the school. Please inform the school if your child has any identified allergies.
With bodies tired from time outdoors and bellies full, children rest from noon until 1 pm. A well-timed rest at midday allows digestion of morning learning and supports a good night’s sleep. When the children rise from resting, they engage in a variety of indoor activities, such as free play, artistic work, food preparation, and song and movement circles. A simple afternoon snack is provided, and the children return to outdoor play in the yard, where they are picked up at 3:30 pm.

"Thank you for this day. For work and rest and play. Thank you to every friend, soon we’ll meet again.”
And so the day has ended.
